Villa d'Este Concorso d'Eleganza 2012 Villa d'Este Concorso d'Eleganza 2012

Cernobbion Italy May 2012. Cernobbio on Lake Como once again became a magnet for car fans from far and wide. On display at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este were a range of classic automobiles and cutting-edge concept cars that thrilled the crowds who had flocked there. At the end of another marvellous weekend on the shores of Lake Como, the annual Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, initiated in 1929, proclaimed its worthy winners on Sunday. The judges and the public were of one mind: the Alfa Romeo, 6C 1750 GS, 6th Series Coupé, Figoni of 1933 claimed the Trofeo BMW Group presented by the jury, and thus the Best of Show accolade, while also securing the public prize, the Coppa d’Oro Villa d’Este. In the Concept Cars and Prototypes category, meanwhile, the winner was the Alfa Romeo 4C. Appearing out of competition in this year’s line-up was the BMW Zagato Coupé and the Aston Martin Project AM 310 making a high-profile world debut. The Rolls Royce “Round Door RR” was brought by the Petersen Museum and appeared also out of competition. This was also the case, among others,  for the BMW Turbo Concept 1972. The competition included “Heroes of Le Mans” that was a challenge for successful racing cars to be driven at low pace in the middle of the crowd. We introduce in this article the cars that collected awards as well as some of their competitors. Some links to complete Car Reviews will allow a more complete visit of some relevant examples of this classic cars and concept cars exceptional gathering.
