General Motors Autonomy Concept car 2002

General Motors introduced, at the Detroit Motor Show 2002, this Autonomy Concept car as an illustration of the principle for the new program "reinventing the automobile" launched by GM CEO and chairman Rick Wagoner to his development teams.

The new idea is to concentrate all operating elements, that is propulsion, steering, braking and controls, in one single platform above which different body style could be fitted. Propulsion is made by electric motors powered by hydrogen fuel cells. Propulsion control as well as braking and steering functions are made "by-wire" replacing mechanical and hydraulic linkages by electric wires and actuators.

The Autonomy represents a futuristic sport car with advanced design and is still a mock up for exhibition at Motor Show.
